FAQ's

How often will I need to come into the office?

The number of treatments vary depending on the problem and individual. After a thorough assessment during your initial exam, we can discuss a treatment plan. Start today with your New Patient forms to begin the process.

Is it okay to see a chiropractor if I'm pregnant?

YES. Anytime is a good time for a better- functioning nervous system. Pregnant mothers find that chiropractic adjustments improve their pregnancy and make delivery easier for themselves and their baby. Not only is chiropractic care safe for a pregnant woman, in many cases it can actually help with the headaches, nausea, back pain, leg pain and many other symptoms that are common during pregnancy. We have special "pregnancy pillows" designed specifically for pregnant women to lie safely on their stomach. It is a great joy for us to provide care for expectant mothers and make delivery easier for themselves and their baby.

Why do newborns get adjustments?

The birth process, whether vaginal or c-section, can affect an infant’s spine. Their bones are very moveable still because their tendons and ligaments are not fully formed yet. This makes it very easy for their bones to shift out of proper alignment. Some studies suggest that colic, unusual crying, poor appetite, ear infection, or erratic sleeping habits can be signs of spinal distress. Newborns also become subluxated in the same physical, emotional or chemical ways an adult does. An adjustment on a baby is a very gentle process. We only use about a dime's worth of pressure with the tip of our finger to shift the bone back into place.

Why do kids need to see a chiropractor?

When bones become misaligned, nerve tension can result. When this happens, the whole body suffers as a result, and these misalignments are known as “subluxations.” Spinal segments can be pushed out of place or jammed by the position of the baby in the womb, they can suffer similar problems during labor from the trauma of the trip through the birth canal, or from the birthing process itself.

The act of learning to walk, and the number of simple falls encountered in this way can induce trauma to the lower spinal segments and the pelvis. Young children learning to walk also fall and hit their heads. These apparently innocent, yet frequently occurring events can also create spinal subluxations.

So how can you tell if your child needs an adjustment? There are not always clear indications that parents can pick up on so it is best to get them checked to make sure their spines are aligned. Common indicators include the head constantly being tipped to one side, restricted motion, disturbed sleep patterns, feeding difficulties, colic, persistent earaches, bed-wetting, reflux, flattened head, etc.

Is getting a massage during pregnancy safe?

Yes! We use pregnancy pillows to make sure Mom can be comfortable laying on her belly or side during the massage.

Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.

How long does the first appointment take?

New patient appointments typically take longer than regular visits to allow time for a thorough evaluation and discussion of your health concerns.  We usually ask that you allow an hour but can range from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Is chiropractic care only for people in pain?

No. Many patients choose chiropractic care as part of their overall wellness routine to help maintain mobility and function.

"I'm nervous about seeing a chiropractor. What if I've never been adjusted before?"

That's completely normal. We'll explain everything before beginning treatment, answer your questions, and make sure you're comfortable every step of the way. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions about your care.
